Day 7: Dishes

After having decluttered 58 pieces of clothing from my wardrobe, for this week I am changing my focus to the kitchen. I am very pleased with my prior decision to not only declutter one piece each day, but as many as I feel like. Otherwise it would have taken me nearly two months instead of six days to get rid of the clothes.

Today, dishes.

 Chipped dishes, that is.

I am not superstitious, but wasn't it a Russian saying not to have chipped dishes in the house, for good luck, or was it Feng Shui?

Anyway, those four pieces don't feel round anymore. So they have to go. As there is no eve-of-the-wedding-party (German Polterabend) in sight, where guests bring pottery and smash it in front of the happy couple, their only destination is: trash.

Thank you for holding those yummy desserts and breakfasts.
Goodbye.

Day 6: Hippie Dress Giveaway

Anyone fancies this?

- an original 60s/70s vintage dress
(I had my hippie days,
precondition for a yoga teacher)

I think it's time for a little online giveaway. Maybe you are an old hippie chick or look for something to wear coming Carnival. If you are interested, please enter a comment until January 12 here on my blog or on facebook. I will make sure the dress will get to you.

Good luck!

Day 5: Miscellaneous Clothes

What I have also found in my wardrobe:

-1 fall/winter coat (second-hand, a bit too small)
- 1 crochet top (second-hand)
- 1 scarf (forgot to declutter on white day)
- 1 undershirt
- 1 dress
(that my mama gave me for my first wedding anniversary party)
- 1 oversized sweater (second-hand)
- 1 skirt from my Berlin student days
(when I loved turquoise, but you could see the pink coming)

Goodbye and Thank you to those seven!

Day 4: Black

Today I declutter four black pieces of clothing:

- 1 dress und 1 shirt (both 21 years old, really really time to let go,
I haven't worn the dress since my teens, even though the teenage idea appeals to Hubby,
I have outgrown it mentally)
- 2 sports leggings (1 year old, I don't like how they fit)

Thank you and Goodbye!

Day 3: Purple

Five purple pieces of clothing.

One happy helper.

Day 2: Pink

If you know me, know will know that pink is my favourite colour. So it's no wonder that I have a lot of pink clothes. Those are ones that will go:

Pink has not always been my favourite. Actually, I really very much disliked pink in my teens and twens and preferred green, black, violett, bordeaux, turquoise (in that chronological order). Only when I became pregnant with my first child nearly eight years ago, there came this pink shift. And it hasn't stopped with baby number two (I ordered pink baby slings when I was five weeks pregnant). Luckily I am a mama to girls.

24 pink things

- 1 nightie (from Auckland 2009)
- 3 dresses (2 of them I wore when I was pregnant with my first daughter)
- 4 skirts (from Fiji, India 2009 and Berlin 2002)
- 13 tops and shirts (1 bought at an Amma Darshan in New York 2009)
- 2 sweaters (both second-hand from Oldenburg, very rarely worn)
- 1 scarf

The scarf is the only real winter item in this collection. I am just not such a winter person, I think. And I like buying clothes while travelling in warm/hot countries. The pink clothes will go to the charity shop, like most of the decluttered clothes this week. Second-hand shops will only take winter clothes until March.

I hope someone else will enjoy summer wearing them.

Thank you and Goodbye!

Day 1: White

Here we go!
 It's the 1st of January 2014,
 the sun is shining,
the air is crisp
and the sky is blue with occasional feathery-light clouds.

White as the proverbial clean slate of a New year.

And white will also be today's decluttering theme:

I am starting this fresh year of declutter with my wardrobe. A good place to start. Easy. And I will declutter my clothes by colour. White is the uniform colour of yoga teachers all around the globe and those 17 white things I am letting go:

- 4 yoga pants (bought in India, Hollywood, Cologne and a German ashram, among them those very pants I taught my first prenatal yoga classes in, back in 2006)
- 11 shirts and tops (one top I did my first White Tantra Days in, in a desert of New Mexico, back in 2009 - White Tantra, what's this, you might ask, something different then you think, see here)
- 1 two-piece nightie
- 1 sweater

The clothes will go to a charity shop.
Goodbye and thank you!
