Day 365: Grand Finale

There was one place I didn't dare to declutter this year.
I didn't even dare to look too long.
The two drawers underneath my desk.

I would open them, sigh hopelessly and close them quickly again.
And again.

But the end of the year gave me decluttering courage.

There was a lot of rubbish in those drawers.
The rest fits nicely into one drawer.

And the other drawer?

Ready to greet the New Year
and be filled in 2015.

Let go of the old
and let in the new.

Thank you.

Day 362-364: Declutter Countdown

I have been going through the house to find stuff that will be no longer needed in 2015. Even though this 365-day-decluttering-project ends online tomorrow, it will be an ongoing topic in our house from then on. It just never ends. We have parted from thousands of small and big things during the year, mostly thrown away and recycled, some sold, donated or given. And when one corner of the house seems to be clutter-free, the clutter amasses again at the other end. You always have to have an eye of the things that come into the house again (the plastic bags cupboard will probably always be a mess). I am very thankful for the decluttering techniques I have practiced this year and even the girls found some of them fun. Here are some last things to declutter this year:

yarn that I will never be able to unravel

a broken reading lamp, already fixed before

brushes become useless, when acrylic paint isn't washed out in time

Thank you and Goodbye!

Christmas decoration that broke:

a reindeer that lifted its upper legs

a one-armed snowman

and historic lametta from the German Democratic Republic

Thank you
and Goodbye!

Day 349-353: Lozenges

Sore throats and running noses are a by-product of this season,
but these lozenges look really expired.

Thank you and Goodbye!

Day 342-348: Diapers

As we practiced Elimaination Communication with Carolina and also used cloth diapers, we only used disposable diapers for travelling on planes. We never got through package number two in Carolina's first two years. So this week a nearly full pack of diapers was given to a toddler you can still use it.

Thanks for making travelling easy
and Goodbye!

Day 328-341: Decluttering in Bulks

Recently Clara's desk had risen to new heights.

And also the rest of her room was so uninviting,
that she prefered spending time outside of her room.
Yesterday was a cold and rainy Sunday and we decided to go for it. Favourite technique -
emptying all the surfaces and cupboards and putting it all on the floor.

Clara was convinced she was the kid in her class with the most things
and she doesn't need anything more.
Every item on the floor has to be picked up and then decided upon -
keep and then find a place for it or throw away.

Some decluttered items:

she knows that now

no more needed

she has a massive shell collection besides

a monster from the kid entertainment
on the flight to Sri Lanka

dried out

The rest filled a paper recyling bag and a waste bag.

Inviting now.

She started making invitations
to her birthday party right away.
